“Daryl is clearly a master practitioner. His scope is broad and holistic and he has the toolkit to match. I was very impressed with the immediate benefits from my first session. I’m excited about the potential of working with Daryl longer term on some more chronic health challenges, given how quickly he’s helping me resolve the acute issue that brought me to see him in the first place. He has excellent bedside manner and clearly cares a lot about his clients well being. 10/10 would recommend.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about myofascial release therapy and what to expect during your visit.

What is myofascial release?

Myofascial release is a hands-on therapy that targets the fascia—a continuous web of connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, nerves, and organs. By applying gentle, sustained pressure into fascial restrictions, our therapists help eliminate pain and restore motion.

How is it different from regular massage?

Unlike traditional massage that focuses primarily on muscles, myofascial release addresses the fascial system throughout the entire body. The techniques are generally gentler, with sustained pressure rather than rhythmic strokes, and work at a deeper level to release restrictions in the fascial network.

What should I wear during treatment?

We recommend comfortable, loose-fitting clothing such as shorts and a t-shirt or tank top. Unlike traditional massage, myofascial release is often performed with light clothing on, though some techniques may require direct skin contact.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your condition, its severity, and how long you’ve had it. Some clients experience significant relief after just 1-3 sessions, while chronic conditions may require a series of 6-10 treatments or more. Your therapist will discuss a recommended treatment plan during your initial assessment.

Is myofascial release covered by insurance?

Many extended health insurance plans in British Columbia cover myofascial release therapy when performed by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). We provide detailed receipts for insurance claims. We recommend checking with your insurance provider about your specific coverage.

What can I expect after treatment?

Many clients experience immediate relief, improved mobility, and a sense of relaxation after treatment. Some may experience temporary soreness (similar to post-exercise soreness) for 24-48 hours. Staying hydrated and taking a warm bath can help minimize any post-treatment discomfort.
